This proclamation commences the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2021, bringing most of the Act into operation on 1 July 2023, with section 316(3) commencing on 30 June 2023. Certain parts of the Act are excluded as they are already in operation or commence under other sections.
This affects all individuals and organisations whose activities may impact Aboriginal cultural heritage in Western Australia. It establishes the framework for managing and protecting Aboriginal cultural heritage, requiring compliance with the new Act from the specified commencement dates.
