These regulations amend the Environmental Protection (Prohibited Plastics and Balloons) Regulations 2018 to further restrict certain single-use plastics and introduce changes related to degradable plastics. They define new terms and modify existing definitions related to plastics and packaging.

Businesses supplying food and beverages, retailers using plastic bags, and manufacturers of certain plastic products will be affected. They will need to adapt to the changing definitions and restrictions, particularly regarding degradable plastics, and find compliant alternatives.
