These regulations amend the Workers' Compensation and Injury Management Regulations 1982 to specify post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a prescribed disease and certain employment types as prescribed employment for the purposes of section 49F of the Act.
Paramedics, ambulance officers, and ambulance emergency communications officers diagnosed with PTSD under DSM-5 criteria may be eligible for workers' compensation benefits. This clarifies eligibility criteria and processes for these workers.
