These regulations amend the Environmental Protection (Prohibited Plastics and Balloons) Regulations 2018 and the Environmental Protection Regulations 1987 to prohibit the use of prescribed plastic film signage outdoors for promotional or advertising purposes and introduce penalties for non-compliance.

Businesses and individuals using plastic film signage for outdoor advertising will be affected. They will need to find alternative signage solutions that comply with the new regulations. Local councils will need to enforce the new regulations.
