๐ Health Services (Fees and Charges) Amendment Order (No. 2) 2023
OrderSL 2023/342 May 2023
Principal Act
This order amends the Health Services (Fees and Charges) Order 2016 to define 'asylum seeker', 'compensable patient', 'involuntary patient', 'Medicare ineligible asylum seeker', and 'Medicare ineligible involuntary patient'. It also waives fees for Medicare ineligible asylum seekers and involuntary patients receiving mental health treatment.
Medicare ineligible asylum seekers and involuntary patients receiving treatment under the Mental Health Act 2014 will not be charged fees for health services. This impacts hospitals and health services who will need to adjust their billing practices. The definitions clarify patient classifications.
