📜 Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Amendment Regulations 2022
These regulations amend the Legal Profession Uniform Law Application Regulations 2022 to exempt certain contract legislative drafters from the requirement to hold an Australian practicing certificate and to clarify the definition of foreign legislative drafter.
Contract legislative drafters who are not residents of Western Australia but are qualified in specific jurisdictions (Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, UK) and have sufficient experience in government legislative drafting offices are exempt from holding an Australian practicing certificate when working under the direction of the Parliamentary Counsel. This also affects the interpretation of who qualifies as a foreign legislative drafter.
