These regulations amend the Mining Regulations 1981, the Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Resources (Resource Management and Administration) Regulations 2015, and the Petroleum (Submerged Lands) (Resource Management and Administration) Regulations 2015 to transfer royalty administration functions to the Department of Treasury and Finance.

Mining and petroleum operators will now interact with the Department of Treasury and Finance for royalty-related matters. This includes reporting and payments. The changes aim to streamline royalty administration.
