These regulations amend the Mining Regulations 1981 to include references to 'diversification leases' in relation to mining tenements on pastoral lands. They also update terminology related to pastoral leases.
Pastoralists and mining operators are affected. Mining operators need to consider diversification leases when applying for mining tenements on pastoral lands. Pastoralists who hold diversification leases are now explicitly included in notification processes.
